The vineyards of Anatolia, symbolised by the Goddess of Fertility Kybele featured on the label, are home to a variety of indigenous grapes ideal for producing distinct and expressive wines. Kayra wines are crafted from these ancient grapes, grown in what is often referred to as the cradle of wine – Anatolia. The winemaking approach marries tradition with modern techniques, allowing the wines to mature and blend in a way that captures the pure essence of Anatolian varietals. This results in wines that showcase the unique structure, aromas, textures, and flavours of Turkey’s diverse winegrowing regions.

Kayra Oküzgözü Red Wine is a remarkable example of Turkey’s hidden wine treasures. Known for its vibrant acidity and ripe red fruit aromas, the wine also features notes of menthol and exotic spices from the ancient Middle East, complemented by supple tannins that integrate beautifully, especially when decanted. Made from the ancient Oküzgözü varietal, thought to be over 6,500 years old, the wine reflects deep heritage and refinement. Described by Kayra’s US-born winemaker Daniel O’Donnell as "Turkey’s Barbaresco", this wine is made entirely from low-yielding, eight-year-old Öküzgözü vines.
