KAMIKI Japanese Sakura Wood Whisky is inspired by the serene breezes that blow from the sacred Mountain of the God. The name "KAMIKI" is derived from the words "KAMI," meaning "GOD," and "IKI," meaning "BREATH." The whisky offers a perfectly balanced taste, with notes of heather honey, sweet caramel, Japanese plum, balanced oak, peat, and toffee, complemented by subtle hints of sandalwood and green tea. It is non-chill-filtered at 48% alcohol to preserve its natural flavours, ensuring a rich, authentic experience. Each batch is blended at its peak flavour, making every release unique and limited, reflecting the artistry of its creation.
To craft this exceptional whisky, rare Japanese malt whiskies are selected alongside the finest malts from around the world. These are blended with pure spring water from Japan, adding a distinctive element to the spirit. Yoshino Sugi, also known as Japanese Cedar, is a significant part of the process. Native to Japan, the wood is celebrated for its pleasant fragrance and calming properties, which are known to soothe both the mind and body. This ancient wood is used to create temples, making it a symbol of the harmony between nature and craftsmanship in Japanese culture.
The story of KAMIKI is deeply rooted in the ancient land of Nara, Japan, home to the Ōmiwa Shrine, which lies at the foot of Mount Miwa, a revered holy mountain. This sacred site, with its centuries-old traditions, is the heart of Japan’s alcohol production, and its influence is felt throughout the region. The whisky pays homage to this legacy, blending the spirits of Japanese nature and craftsmanship. Nara, with its 8th-century temples and spiritual significance, provides the perfect backdrop for the timeless tradition of Japanese whisky making, offering a unique connection between the divine and the earthly.

Rather than adhering to a fixed ratio, it is blended at its optimal flavour, making each batch unique and limited. Rare Japanese malts, alongside the finest whiskies from around the world, are combined with the purest spring water from Japan, resulting in a whisky that captures the essence of the land.
The influence of the Japanese Cedar, or Yoshino Sugi, is integral to the spirit’s creation. Known for its fragrance and calming properties, the Japanese Cedar has long been used in temple construction and is cherished for its soft texture. This tradition aligns with the centuries-old practices of Ōmiwa Shrine, located at the foot of Mount Miwa in Nara. Revered as a sacred Mountain of the God, Mount Miwa has inspired generations, and Ōmiwa Shrine, one of Japan’s oldest Shinto shrines, has served as a guardian of alcohol production. The shrine’s tutelary role in Nara, home to many of Japan's most renowned alcohol-producing families, links our whisky to a rich history where alcohol is offered as blessings in Shinto temples. This whisky honours the spiritual and cultural heritage of Nara, a region where the ancient power of temples continues to resonate.
