Château Barrail Laussac Bordeaux presents a deep ruby red hue, offering a visually striking introduction to this elegant wine. On the nose, it reveals a complex bouquet dominated by black pepper, intertwined with vibrant fruity aromas of blueberry, raspberry, and cherry. The palate mirrors these aromas, delivering a well-balanced experience with smooth tannins and a powerful, lingering spicy aftertaste. This Bordeaux is crafted from a blend of 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Sauvignon, resulting in a rich, full-bodied character that pairs beautifully with grilled meats, pâté, and a variety of cheeses. The wine is the work of esteemed winemaker Laurent Prada, who has expertly brought out the best in this blend.

The history behind Château Barrail Laussac is deeply connected to the legacy of Barton & Guestier, one of Bordeaux’s most historic wine merchants. The company’s story begins with Thomas Barton, who left his native Ireland at the age of 30 in the early 18th century to pursue his passion for wine in Bordeaux. A true adventurer, Barton founded his wine-shipping company in 1725, and his dedication quickly led to tremendous success. By 1747, he had become Bordeaux’s leading wine shipper, earning the affectionate nickname “French Tom” from his loyal clientele. His pioneering spirit was further demonstrated when he became the first shipper to own his own wine estates.

The Barton legacy continued with Thomas’s grandson, Hugh Barton, who in 1802 partnered with French trader Daniel Guestier to establish Barton & Guestier. This partnership created a lasting influence on the Bordeaux wine industry, and the company holds the distinction of being the oldest wine merchant in the region. Today, Barton & Guestier remains a symbol of tradition and quality, with wines like Château Barrail Laussac reflecting their centuries-long commitment to excellence.
