The story of Barton & Guestier begins with Thomas Barton, an Irishman who emigrated to Bordeaux in the early 18th century. At just 30 years old, he founded his wine-shipping company in 1725, earning the nickname “French Tom” as his success flourished. By 1747, he was Bordeaux’s top shipper, becoming the first to own his own wine estates. In 1802, his grandson Hugh Barton partnered with French trader Daniel Guestier to create Barton & Guestier, now the oldest wine merchant in Bordeaux. Their legacy lives on in this award-winning Sauvignon Blanc, commended at the IWC 2016 for its 2015 vintage.
